Hippies and the Hare krishna movement

The hippies were used to taking drugs and staying high. But Hare krishna movement founder, Srila Prabhupada taught them that the high of the drug comes down the next morning but Krishna consciousness could sustain them forever.

Prabhupada helped them with kirtans, invited them to lectures and soon they became followers of the Vedic culture. Many became full-time volunteers for the institution.
Just as ISKCON found ardent devotees like George Harrison back in The Beatles’ heyday, it continues to attract followers across the world even today.
