Grand Janmasthami Celebration at ISKCON Pokhara

Sri Krishna Janmasthami – Lord Krishna’s birthday commemoration which was observed this year on August 19 was of special significance to ISKCON Pokhara –thanks largely to all of the devotees and participants who made the program successful.

The attendees on the Janmasthami event were able to enjoy bhajan and kirtan, hear lecture based on Krishna lila and do jhulan seva on this occasion. Devotees also performed drama based on Lord Krishna’s lilas. Many locals and other important guest attended the program and highly appreciated the celebration program. The event concluded with a special midnight abhisheka being performed, followed by arati to the deities. The programme was also captured and shared on the social media channels of ISKCON Pokhara.

In previous years, the Janmasthami celebration used to be conducted on rented party palaces but this year we tried it different and conducted on our own temple hall. Around 1600 plate Parsadam was distributed and despite the small capacity of temple complex more than 3000 devotees attended the program; it was quite a grand celebration. Likewise, the celebration went quite well on our extension centers in Gharmikhola which witnessed around two hundred devotees attending the celebration. Also, two of the Bhramacharis from Pokhara Center successfully conducted first ever Janmasthami celebration at the Damauli center with over one hundred fifty devotees attending the program.
