ISKCON Pokhara Celebrates Its First Ever ' Boat Festival'

ISKCON Pokhara celebrated its first ever Sri-Sri Radha Krishna Boat Festival on Thursday, Aug 11. The festival was organized by ISKCON Pokhara in association with Fewa Boat Association, Gaurighat at Fewa Lake with the motto "Save Culture, Save Nature". The boat festival also marks the symbolic event that occurred between Radha and Krishna 5000 years ago on the River Yamuna.

The event witnessed the participation of ward chairperson, local political leaders and other distinguished guest along with enthusiast local people and devotees around the valley.

The festivities began with the deities being taken on an artistic elegant boat decorated with a structure of swan and flowers accompanied by around one hundred and fifty devotees on thirty five boats performing the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord. The divine couple Radha and Krishna sailed around the lake for an hour and were onlooker of the sweet breeze and serene environment of the lake along with melodious Kirtan procession circumambulating them.

The event ended successfully with distribution of sweet Parsadam to all the happy participants. Although the event was conducted without much preparation it was successful and we are planning for a grand boat festival again this year on 29 December, 2022.We invite all of you to participate on this event. This is expected to be huge one.
